General Information

- Faith formation is foundational for all Nativity members beginning with parents in Baptism preparation.
  
  During the first 3 years of the first child, parents receive Parent Letters to help them awaken their child’s faith. At 3 years of age, a child begins formal faith formation on our Parish Life Night evenings. Additional faith formation opportunities are available for post-Confirmation students and beyond. The journey of faith is life long and Nativity strives to provide opportunities for everyone.

  Faith Formation Choices
  
  Year-round Summer Intensive: Children attend intensive summer sessions which will be held Monday – Friday from 9AM to noon. The 2024 dates are June 3 – June 14. This year’s theme is A Treasure Hunt and the Mass. The focus of these sessions will be to complete the required book work. These sessions will be based on the Vacation Bible School model.
  
  Online: Bookwork will be required through the publisher’s online platform. There will be monitoring of completion.
  
  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: Begins at age 3. These students will attend classes during the school year following the Nativity calendar comprised of the 3 primary public schools served at Nativity. Classes will continue to meet on Wednesdays beginning at 6:15PM – 7:30PM. Older children who have siblings in CGS will have first priority to attend. The students will be given a personal assessment to see where they will begin.
  
  Other Requirements: ALL families will be required to choose four (4) activities from a list of preplanned activities to attend throughout the year. These activities may be at Nativity or elsewhere. They will be required to sign in or complete a short reflection on the activity attended. These reflections can be completed online. Example of preplanned family activities might include: attending Ash Wednesday Mass, coming to a Family Celebration, visiting a shrine or cathedral.
  
  Sacramental Preparation
  
  First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion sessions will be held independent of the summer sessions.
  
  The current Confirmation class will continue with their “Chosen” video lessons and deeper discussion about the Catholic Faith during the summer sessions. They will also fulfill their Service Hours requirement by assisting the younger students each day during the summer sessions. Any absences will be made up as usual by completing “Make-Up Work’’ on the parish website.
  
  Registration for all sessions will begin in April 2024. Please make your choice and be ready to register when it opens. (Open registration will be announced online, via email and in bulletin.)
